Sagicor Investments will be expanding its operations to the Cayman Islands by the end of 2021.
Tara Nunes, CEO, Sagicor Investments Jamaica announced the expansion recently at the second staging of the Sagicor Investments’ Money Talks series, which was live-streamed on Sagicor’s social media platforms.
Noting that the move is part of Sagicor’s strategic plans to extend its services across the region, Nunes stated that the company has received regulatory approvals to operate in the market.
“We would have said previously that we plan to expand to the Cayman markets and I am very happy to say right now that we have received our licence from the Cayman Islands Monetary Authorities. We have that in hand and so we are moving full steam ahead to set up our operations which we expect to do before the end of the year,” Nunes said.
Expressing excitement at the move, Nunes said the company looks forward to aiding Caymanians along their journey to create, grow and preserve their wealth.
“This move is going to allow us to expand our clientele and our product offerings across the region. Of course, we are exploring other opportunities as well and we will execute on those when the time is right,” she stated.
The investment company will join its sister company, Sagicor Life of the Cayman Islands, and target clients within the market.
The special investor briefing featured Sean Newman, Chief Investment Officer, Sagicor Group Jamaica, Stefan Wright from IDB Invest, and Vitali from Goldman Sachs, who along with Nunes formed a panel that fielded questions on the theme ‘Global Market Perspectives’. It was hosted by Dr, Terri-Karrelle Reid.
