Saxon has partnered with Cayman Carnival Junior Batabano to highlight aspects of our Caymanian culture and heritage within the carnival celebration. They will be sponsoring the four major awards, named for Cayman’s National symbols, to be won by the participating schools. These awards are The Silver Thatch Award for Band of the Year; The Wild Banana Orchid Award for 2nd. place; The Green Sea Turtle Award for 3rd. place and The Grand Cayman Parrot Award for Spirit of Batabano.
There will be 2 judging points and the judges will award points for portrayal of costumes, visual impact, Stage choreography and banner impact. The biggest highlight of the day is the well-choreographed dances that will be performed on the stage by each school.
Everyone is invited to come out and see the colourful display of costumes on Saturday 22 April 2023 beginning at 2pm on the lawns of the Old Glass House, Elgin Avenue, George Town.
