Senior Public Servants Awarded Fellowship Status of Institute of Leadership and Management

Six senior public servants have been awarded Fellowship status of the Institute of Leadership and Management.

Working in partnership with the Institute of Leadership and Management, Government’s Civil Service College (CSC) has been supporting senior leaders to assess their leadership competencies against international benchmarks. Following an assessment of their role and their behavioral competencies against the Institute’s five dimensions of leadership, Stran Bodden, Derek Byrne, Jennifer Ahearn, Sandy Hermiston, Gloria McField-Nixon and Elizabeth Depledge have now completed the learning pathway for senior managers and been confirmed as Fellows of the Institute of Leadership and Management.

The Institute’s learning pathway covers five dimensions of leadership including Authenticity; Vision; Achievement; Ownership and Collaboration. These were mapped to the Cayman Islands civil service competencies of Delivering Results; Building Capability and Working with Others to ensure a comprehensive assessment was made.

John Mark Williams, CEO of the Institute of Leadership and Management remarked: “The Cayman Islands are uniquely fortunate to have such a high caliber of senior leaders and we are delighted that they will be joining our community as Fellows.”

Government’s five-year strategic plan sets out a roadmap for developing leadership across every level of the civil service.

Franz Manderson notes: “The Cayman Islands depends on capable leaders in the civil service to steer us through challenging and unpredictable circumstances, whether this comes from the impact of a global pandemic, environmental threats like natural disasters or the evolving expectations of our population. Our world-class leaders inspire and motivate at all levels of the civil service, so I am delighted these dedicated individuals have earned this prestigious achievement.”
