The Government has announced the phased opening of emergency shelters across Grand Cayman and the Sister Islands. This plan is to ensure the safety and well-being of residents as we navigate the hurricane season.
The shelters will be opened in stages, beginning with the 7 primary shelters located in each District, followed by additional sites across Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac. This strategic approach aims to ensure an organised and efficient response to potential emergencies.

What to Bring:
Residents are reminded to bring essential items to sustain themselves for 3-4 days, including:
Non-perishable food and water
Personal identification and important documents
Medications and first aid supplies
Clothing and bedding
Hygiene products
Flashlights and batteries
Mobile phones and chargers
Plan Ahead:
Residents are strongly encouraged to plan ahead and prioritize their safety. The shelters operate on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to the vulnerable, including the elderly, individuals with disabilities, and families with young children. Space is limited. Residents are reminded to be sure that they have everything they need before heading to a shelter.
