Singing Christmas Tree – two wonderful evenings at the Lions Centre
Two wonderful evenings at the Lions Centre were truly the heart of Christmas – with the Singing Christmas Tree on Nov 30 and 1 December: ‘The Singing Christmas Tree: A Celebration of Joy, Hope and Faith.’
Now in its 11TH year, the 21-foot tree, with seven rows of singers, brings joy and hope to the heart of Cayman, with its Christmas Message.
Every year local talent – some stars from the Assemblies of God Church who organised the even- join the stage alongside international Gospel celebrities such as Reba Rambo who always brings seasonal joy to the event.
One of the highlights of the event was the telling through drama of the birth of Jesus, and the Three Kings bearing gifts. Halfway through the production, Pastor Torrence Bobb reminded everyone that Jesus was the reason for the season, and that one day, everyone would face eternity with or without God’s presence. He urged those who hadn’t already done so to give their hearts and lives to the risen Lord Jesus, acknowledging him as their personal Lord and Savior, leading them in a simple prayer of acceptance for God’s free gift of salvation.
The second half of the production featured the Grand Finale, where an ordinary person who had said the Sinners Prayer, found themselves approaching the Gates of Heaven. There he looked on in awe and wonder. A song said that he met Abraham and Joshua, and Mark, and John; all the saints who had gone before. But most of all, he wished to see Jesus who had died for him.
Pastor Elsa Bobb was responsible for orchestrating the months of hard work including the rehearsals leading up to the two evenings.
The Singing Christmas Tree also featured performances by UCCI Performing Arts and Dance Expressions. There was also a performance of the bagpipes, and a very talented saxophone player who made some Christmas favorites come alive .“
A 10th-anniversary, commemorative ‘Singing Christmas Tree’ magazine will be on sale at the event.
