Sir John A. Cumber too strong for Joanna Clarke

Sports 15 May, 2024 Follow News

Action from the boy’s game between Sir John A. Cumber Primary (batting) and Joanna Clarke Primary

Sir John A. Cumber’s batting and bowling line-up was simply too strong for the visiting Joanna Clarke Primary teams as the fifth round of play in the 2024 Inter-Primary Cricket Competition concluded this past Friday, May 10th.

Joanna Clarke Primary’s games with Sir John A. Cumber Primary in West Bay were not going to be easy.

First up were the girls and Sir John A. Cumber’s young ladies set a decent target of 67 runs with the loss of only three wickets. In response, Joanna Clarke could only accumulate 58 runs with the loss of one wicket.

In the boy’s contest, Sir John A. Cumber’s young men chose to bat first and set an impressive target of 104 runs with the loss of only a single wicket. Joanna Clarke’s questionable bowling contributed greatly to the relatively high score taking nothing away from the West Bay boys’ eagerness to hit every ball to the boundaries. In response, Joanna Clarke’s batters were not up to the task and could only register 60 runs with the loss of six wickets.

Other results from the fourth day of competition included:

Zone A Boys: Red Bay Primary defeated Island Primary 139 runs to 96 runs, Prospect Primary beat Cayman Prep B 129 runs to 60 runs and East End Primary got past Cayman Academy 52 runs to 50 runs. Edna Moyle Primary was not scheduled to play.

Zone B Boys: Cayman Prep B got past Theoline L. McCoy Primary 75 runs to 70 runs and Cayman International School defeated Marie Martin Primary 80 runs to 66 runs. St. Ignatius Catholic was not scheduled to play.

Zone B Girls: Cayman Prep A got past Theoline L. McCoy Primary 68 runs to 34 runs and Cayman International School defeated Marie Martin Primary 68 runs and 60 runs. St. Ignatius Catholic was not scheduled to play.
