The recent census in St Helena has put the mid-Atlantic territory’s population at 4,439. The majority, 4,114 are St Helenian.
The St Helena Statistics Office said the current population shows a slight decline compared to the 2016 total of 4,534 residents.
The statistics also show that overall, the population is getting older, with the number of St Helenians aged 65 and over continuing to rise. They now account for 1,087 residents or a quarter of the population, an increase of 18% from 2016.
