The newly renovated TAG Heuer Luxury watch boutique on the George Town Waterfront celebrated its official relaunch on Wednesday, 21st February.
The occasion was also a continuation of the 60th anniversary of the Porsche Carrera, which has has a long history with the watch brand.
Both the Porsche Carrera and TAG Heuer Carrera watches were launched in 1963, a reality that has inextricably linked the two companies’ relationship and lends itself associatively to the distinction, mark of excellence and apex craftsmanship that goes into each of the brands.
In this spirit, the relaunch of the reimagined TAG Heuer boutique and Porsche Carrera’s 60th anniversary, Wednesday’s event featured several high profiled guests, including Béatrice Goasglas, President Americas, as well as a who’s who of Caymanian society and prominent persons in the Islands’ business community.
Special guests at the event included Ocean/marine wildlife artist and conservationist Guy Harvey, whose signature TAG Heuer Guy Harvey Limited Edition Aquaracer Steel Q watches are available exclusively at Kirk Freeport.
The partnership is one that also serves a philanthropic purpose, with part proceeds from the sale of the Guy Have Aquaracer going toward making research and conservation.
Mr. Harvey, who has lived in the Cayman Islands since 1999 and has contributed an immense amount of time and resources to protection and promotion of the Islands’ marine life, spoke exclusively with the Caymanian Times.
“We’ve been working with TAG Heuer for about 12 years and a percentage of all sales comes back to the Guy Harvey Foundation, which collaborates with local and international organizations to conduct scientific research and host educational programs aimed at better understanding and conserving the ocean environment,” he remarked.
Kirk Freeport Vice President, Mr. Daniel Kirkconnell noted that the new boutique is a, “gorgeous representation of the TAG Heuer brand’.
He added that the TAG Heuer boutique was part of a larger plan to renovate the entire area, off of Seafarer’s Way.
“We are actually going through the Planning process now and the goals is to have restaurants, cafes and entertainment once we are done. The area is steeped in the folklore of Cayman Maritime history and we are proud to have a unique edge in that regard,” he explained.
With residential plans also in the works for downtown, George Town and the recent renovation of other buildings in the area by notable developers such as Frank Schilling, the George Town Revitalisation is moving ahead at full steam.
VP of Operations for Kirk Freeport, Mr. Chris Kirkconnell explained that Tag Heuer luxury watch was one of his first watches; an heirloom he has since passed down to his children before presenting Béatrice Goasglas with a specially commissioned painting from Guy Harvey, depicting Cayman’s underwater life.
Ms. Goasglas told the audience that she was elated to see the new designed boutique come to life and that the location being next to the harbour with Cayman’s iconic scenic beauty on display.
Shoppers and guests enjoyed the evening’s festive atmosphere and networked throughout the evening, with catering from Mise en Place and the sultry sounds of the saxophone.
