The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism (CIDOT), alongside accommodation partners Hampton by Hilton Grand Cayman, the Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort and Spa, Wyndham Reef Resort, Vida Cayman, and the Marriott Grand Cayman Resort, represented the Cayman Islands at this year’s World Travel Market (WTM) in London. This annual event, a prominent fixture on the global travel industry calendar, served as a platform for the Cayman Islands to connect with top tour operators, travel professionals, and industry leaders, allowing CIDOT and our partners to reinforce the destination’s unique selling points to our target markets.
The CIDOT team and industry partners conducted over 150 meetings during the three-day event, securing partnerships and fostering industry relationships that are expected to translate into measurable tourism growth for the Cayman Islands over the coming years.
Director of Tourism, Rosa Harris, participated in a panel discussion “The Next Five Years in Travel and Tourism” discussing the social, economic, and environmental impacts that the travel and tourism industry has faced and should brace for over the next five years.
Speaking on CIDOT’s participation in WTM Director Harris stressed the importance of participating in global travel trade events, “Attending WTM is vital to our tourism strategy as it allows us to have face-to-face-meetings with members of the travel trade from all over the world.” She continued, “The meetings that we conducted are already paying dividends and we’d like to thank our accommodation partners for allowing us to highlight our accommodations directly to an international market.”
The Department’s local industry partners echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the value of being at WTM and engaging with global travel leaders. “WTM London provided us with exceptional opportunities to meet with tour operators who cater to our target markets in Europe. Being able to have one-on-one conversations and showcase our resort offering helped to drive substantial brand awareness and fantastic connections were made,” said Ayu Purbasanti, Senior Sales Manager at The Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort and Spa.
CIDOT’s attendance at World Travel Market London underscores the Department’s commitment to fostering robust international partnerships and ensuring the Cayman Islands remains at the forefront of travelers’ minds worldwide.
