THE GRAND CAYMAN MARRIOTT LOOKS FORWARD TO THE FUTURE WITH A NEW GENERAL MANAGER

The Grand Cayman Marriott is ready to usher in a new era with an experienced General Manager leading the way. Hermes Cuello, formerly the Hotel Manager at The Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman, has over 23 years’ experience in the hospitality and tourism industry and is known for his extensive knowledge in luxury resorts operations, compassionate leadership skills and creative and innovative approach. During his tenure at The Ritz-Carlton, he was able to achieve a Forbes 5 Star rating for the first time in the property’s history along with record financial performances in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Mr. Cuello is no stranger to the island. Before he moved back to Grand Cayman in 2017, he lived here in 2005 as part of the opening team of the Ritz-Carlton and then as the Director of Rooms Operations at the Grand Cayman Marriott from 2008–2011. During his time here, Mr. Cuello has always been very engaged with the Cayman community and continues to be dedicated to the employment and development of local talent within the hospitality sector. As the new GM, his main focus is getting the hotel ready to accommodate and host international guests when the borders re-open. This includes a major push in recruiting Caymanian associates and training them to the highest levels of customer service.

Mr. Cuello comments: “I am very excited to be part of the Grand Cayman Marriott family again – the staff here have always been incredibly committed and hard working. I look forward to growing the leadership team and starting a new chapter of the Beach House Experience. This hotel has done such a phenomenal job in re-inventing its offerings to stay relevant in the market and its loyal local following is very much a testament to this. I am very confident that this property will continue to surprise and attract guests with its diverse F&B program at Anchor & Den and Veranda, unique activities and events, successful spa offering with Botanika Union and unique retail space with The Mercantile. Mr. Cuello concludes: “I have always been a huge advocate of the Cayman Islands being a luxury destination. This will be the case even more so as the world opens up after the COVID pandemic. With high vaccination rates and one of the best standards of living in the Caribbean, citizens from around the world will come not only to visit us, but many will also invest to live here. There is a huge opportunity for not only the hotels but the hospitality industry as a whole to realize its full potential and be more successful than ever.
