The Protocol Office requests individuals, businesses and organisations, who wish to lower their flags to half-mast ahead of the funeral of the late John McLean, MLA, to do so at 9.05 a.m. on Monday, 9 September 2019.
This is to facilitate an official flag-lowering ceremony for the late MLA’s family at Government Administration Building at 9am sharp, after which a moment of silence will be observed. All other flags should be lowered to half mast at 9.05 and members of the public may observe a moment of silence if they so choose.
Flags should continue at half-mast for the rest of the day Monday and again on Tuesday when Mr McLean’s funeral will be held. They should then resume their normal position at the top of the flag pole on Wednesday morning.
