TS Eta All Clear issued for Grand Cayman

The Deputy Governor and the National Emergency Management Council have issued the All Clear for Grand Cayman for Tropical Storm.

Weather continues to clear over Grand Cayman. However, the Sister Islands continue to be under a Tropical Storm Warning and are expected to remain so until later tonight. As such, residents of Cayman Brac and Little Cayman are advised to be aware, take preventive action and be prepared for severe weather conditions affecting both the islands.

Regardless, authorities continue to ask all persons to remain off the roads as much as possible on all three islands. On Grand Cayman, this will facilitate the authorities to continue their assessment of weather caused damage and to continue repairs where necessary. Motorists are also advised to be mindful of road closures that are underway to facilitate clean-up efforts.

Similarly, on all three islands, persons are asked to keep out of the sea and the coasts as dangerous waves and wave heights will continue to affect the Cayman Islands. The small craft advisory warning such craft to stay ashore continues to be in effect until further notice.

Deputy Governor, Hon. Franz Manderson said, “We are very sorry that some of our residents suffered from the effects of Tropical Storm Eta, whether it was through flooding or any damage their homes or yards received or whether they lost power or water supply temporarily. Utility crew continue to work to ensure full restoration of water and power as well as deal with downed power lines, if any.

“However, we are indeed grateful to God that the majority on Grand Cayman have been spared the worst of the damage that could have been possible from Tropical Storm Eta.

“I ask that you keep our brothers and Sisters in Cayman Brac and Little Cayman in your thoughts and prayers as they battle Tropical Storm Eta."
