TURKS AND CAICOS SAYS YES TO CRUISES

The Turks and Caicos government says it’s in negotiations with Carnival Cruise Line with the expectation that the cruise line will resume calls by autumn this year.

Premier Washington Misick disclosed in a press conference that the cruise line will be back in Grand Turk by October as the territory prepares for the peak winter tourist season.

He also said the cruise company had committed investments in the region of US$18 million to improve port facilities in Grand Turk.

Talks are also being held with Royal Caribbean cruises to resume their calls.

"It looks very positive that between now and the end of the summer we will also have them calling into Grand Turk,” he indicated.

Mr Misick also said the cruise ships visits was also dependent on the stipulations of the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC), but he expected cruise arrivals to “come back strong”.
