Dr. Robert W. Robertson, President, and Chief Executive Officer of the University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI), has been elected as a member of the Vermont Law and Graduate School Alumni Association (VLGSAA) Board of Directors for a three-year term, spanning from 2024 to 2026.
Vermont Law and Graduate School Alumni Association (VLGSAA) members diligently work to accomplish goals and objectives to serve the mission and students at the law school. The environmental law programs at Vermont Law and Graduate School are consistently ranked among the best in the United States.
Robertson has more than twenty-five years of experience leading award-winning organizations in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. Dr. Robertson brings a wealth of knowledge to his role on the VLGSAA Board of Directors. His career has been marked by numerous accomplishments, including serving as a business faculty member, MBA Director, Dean of Business, Vice President of Academic Affairs, and as the inaugural President of the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute.
Dr. Robertson’s global perspective is underscored by his extensive teaching experience, which has taken him to countries including Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Slovenia, Canada, the United States, and throughout the Caribbean. His academic achievements are equally impressive, including a Doctorate in Management and Organization from Stirling University in Scotland and a Master of Studies in Environmental Law, earned cum laude, from Vermont Law School.
His academic journey also includes a Master of Public Administration from Dalhousie University in Canada, a Post Graduate Diploma in International Management from the University of London, a Post Graduate Certificate in Conflict Resolution from Queen Margaret University in Scotland, a Graduate Diploma in International Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and Executive Certificates from both the Massachusets Institute of Technology in Innovation and Strategy and Harvard University in Leadership and Negotiation.
Dr. Robertson’s accolades extend beyond academia. In 2016, he was designated a Fulbright Specialist by the US Department of State and recognized as an Emerging Leader in the Americas by Global Affairs Canada. His contributions to research have led to his appointment as a Senior Research Fellow with the School of Advanced Studies at the University of London. He has published over 65 peer-reviewed articles and books, primarily focusing on education, strategic planning, quality management, and workforce development.
Furthermore, Dr. Robertson serves as a member of the Editorial Board for the peer-reviewed Florida Political Science Association Journal, the Florida Political Chronicle. His commitment to community service is exemplified through his status as a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow and his involvement in the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman-Sunrise.
