The University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI) is proud to announce that the Division of Business and Finance has been awarded a specialized business reaccreditation from the prestigious International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE). This recognition was confirmed at the IACBE Board of Commissioners meeting in April 2024, in Overland Park, Kansas, USA.
Founded in 1997, the IACBE is a nationally recognized leader in programmatic accreditation in business and business-related education. The IACBE is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and accredits programmes across the globe, ensuring excellence in teaching and learning.
Renewing this accreditation is a testament to UCCI’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and continuous improvement in business education. The Division of Business and Finance at UCCI demonstrated compliance with the IACBE’s high standards through a rigorous process of self-evaluation and independent peer review and its programmes are now globally recognized for their standards.
These standards include a commitment to integrity, responsibility, ethical behavior, quality assessment, strategic planning, innovative business curricula, faculty excellence, supportive student policies, adequate resources, strong external relationships, and innovation in business education.
“We are thrilled to have our business programmes reaffirmed by IACBE,” said UCCI’s Dean of Business and Finance, Dr. Belinda Blessitt-Vincent. “This accreditation not only validates the quality and rigor of our programmes but also highlights our dedication to fostering ethical and responsible business leaders for the future in the Cayman Islands.”
The IACBE accreditation underscores the Division of Business and Finance’s unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality education in the Cayman Islands.
Dr Robert W. Robertson, President and CEO of UCCI, commented, “This achievement is vital for UCCI as it reinforces our mission to provide an exceptional educational experience that prepares students to excel in a global business environment. The business landscape in Cayman is booming and many companies in Cayman trade globally. We want our students to become the business leaders of the future and because of this our business division keeps going from strength to strength.”
Dr. Annette Murphy, UCCI’s IACBE liaison, noted, “Throughout this rigorous process, the team worked diligently to meet IACBE’s highest standards. Therefore, gratitude is extended to all the administrators, students, faculty, staff, alumni, advisory board members, industry partners, and employers for their dedicated contribution to the process.”
The Division of Business and Finance at UCCI offers a comprehensive range of programmes designed to equip graduates with the competencies required by companies of all types. The division provides both undergraduate and graduate programmes, including Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Administration and the Commonwealth Executive master’s in business administration and public administration.
