UPDATE: Cayman Islands Coast Guard Suspends Search for Missing Persons

The Cayman Islands Coast Guard has regrettably announced the suspension of its exhaustive search for two missing individuals. Despite traversing over 1000 miles and employing all available resources over a span of four days, the desired outcomes were not achieved.

The operation witnessed the combined efforts of the CI Coast Guard, RCIPS Air Operations Unit, The CI Fire Service, and the Cayman Islands Customs and Border Control. The team harnessed local weather service data and advanced SAR modelling software provided by our counterparts at the United States Coast Guard (USCG) District 7, Rescue Coordination Center, in Miami, FL.

A special thanks is owed to Evol Miller and Leanna Jackson for their exceptional contribution to the efforts. The dedication and commitment of everyone involved are commendable, especially considering the successful rescue of 8 out of the initial 10 reported missing persons on Saturday, 30th September 2023. The Cayman Islands Coast Guard is profoundly grateful to the broader community for their invaluable contribution and unwavering support during this operation.

Our thoughts and prayers remain steadfast with the missing individuals’ families, friends, and loved ones. Families are encouraged to contact CBC for further information regarding their loved ones at +1 (345) 949-4579 or E-mail: Joey.Scott@gov.ky> .
