US$25,000 Raised at Annual Grant Thornton Golf Championship

The annual Grant Thornton Golf Championship, held on Thursday, December 21, 2024, at the North Sound Golf Club, brought together over 100 business leaders, golf enthusiasts, and community supporters for a day of friendly competition and philanthropy. The event successfully raised US$25,000 for the YMCA of the Cayman Islands and the Cayman Islands Humane Society.

“Thanks to Grant Thornton’s generous contribution, we are able to expand our programs and provide more opportunities for local youth and families,” says Jeff Peterson, CEO of the YMCA. “Their support is making a real difference in our community and helping us build a stronger, healthier Cayman Islands.”

“We are thrilled by the continued success of this year’s fundraiser,” said says Greg O’Driscoll, Partner and Head of Asset Management and Business Development at Grant Thornton (Cayman) LLP. “It’s heartening to see so many individuals and businesses come together for such a great cause, and we are proud to be able to support organisations that help improve the lives of those in need across the island.”

“We are grateful to Grant Thornton for their unwavering support,” says Cassandra McAfee of the Cayman Islands Humane Society. “The funds raised will directly benefit the animals in our care, enabling us to continue our vital work in animal welfare across the Cayman Islands.”

The event was made possible thanks to the generous support of headline sponsors, Kirk Freeport and TRAC Automotive, corporate sponsors, guests who dug deep on the day and volunteers. Grant Thornton remains committed to using its platform to make a positive difference, and this year’s tournament is a testament to the strong spirit of community in the Cayman Islands.
