Participants in the upcoming Pride and CayMAS parades must be vaccinated, according to Cabinet regulations.
Parade organisers for Pride which takes place on 31 July and CayMAS which is set for 7 August are responsible for ensuring that every participant has received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccination course delivered by the Health Services Authority, at least two weeks before their event takes place.
Public Health and the Health Services Authority will oversee the verification process, which will take place prior to the start of the event. Once verified participants will be given wristbands to identify that they are a registered participant.
According to Government regulations gazetted on 21 July, any participant falsifying a vaccination certificate or related information, or any parade organiser who allows more than 1,000 people to take part, is liable to a fine of $10,000 and imprisonment for two years.
Observers and supporters are required to maintain six feet distance from the parade. Items are not to be shared between parade participants and spectators.
Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) will attend both events to monitor and enforce the regulations.
