With more community-spread cases of COVID-19 being uncovered in Cayman, health authorities are stepping up their appeal to the public to get vaccinated to reduce the risk of serious illness in the event they contract the disease.
There are signs that some segments of the community are becoming restive over the issue of mandatory vaccinations. A protest is being organised for this Saturday afternoon outside the Governor’s House opposing what the organisers see as a violation of human rights.
There have been 1,231 COVID-19 PCR tests conducted and processed since this was last reported on Tuesday, 28 September with 15 positive results.
As of 3 p.m. on Tuesday, 28 September a total of 511 PCR tests were processed since the last report on Monday, 27 September
As of 8AM, the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. John Lee, reports that 478 COVID-19 tests have been carried out since this was last reported on Monday morning, 20 September 2021.
Of these, there are three positive tests from the community.

Concern is mounting in Cayman over an uptick in COVID-19 cases attributed to community-spread of the disease here for the first time since the pandemic started.
There were fourteen positive test results. Of these, there are ten positive community tests which include nine George Town Primary School students and one prison officer. There were four positive tests in travellers.
