Beginning the early hours of Wednesday morning and carrying on for much of the day, the Cayman Islands experienced its first big storm of the season when Hurricane Grace battered the islands as a tropical storm.
With Hurricane Grace moving west-northwest at 16 miles an hour, and expected to make landfall in the Yucatan Peninsula tomorrow morning, the National Hazard Management Council has lifted the Hurricane Watch for the Cayman Islands. A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Grand Cayman
The National Hazard Management Council, in consultation with the National Weather Service and the National Hurricane Centre in Miami, announced at 4p.m. today that the Cayman Islands has added a Hurricane Watch to its already declared Tropical Storm Warning.

The latest update from the National Weather Service (NWS) shows Tropical Depression (TD) Grace is forecasted to cross the Cayman Islands on Tuesday night
The Cayman Islands could experience downpours of two to four inches of rainfall - possibly up to six inches by midweek - as tropical depression Grace shifts to more of a westerly direction and brings into closer to the local area.
The system was previously tracking west-north-west.
Tropical storm Grace was expected to pass well to the north of Cayman in the coming days but could trigger heavy rainfall and rough seas locally.
