2022- 2023 CADET PASSING OUT PARADE - CAYMAN BRAC

It was a cool Sunday evening, 30th April, as residents and especially parents gathered at the Layman Scott High School Basketball Court to witness this momentous occasion. 8 excited, young students of the school were the admiration of all in attendance. They all looked remarkable and outstanding in their uniforms.

The actual ceremony commenced around 5 p.m. soon after the arrival of Commandant Colonel Errol Braithwaite, and the reviewing officer. In his address, District Commissioner, Mr. Mark Tibbetts welcomed the guests and gave a special welcome to the graduating Cadets. “I am proud to be witnessing this auspicious occasion. This programme allows you to access training, drills, map reading, leadership, music and problem solving. All of these will greatly assist you in your academic undertakings. I am hoping that next time around there will be more students on display. May God bless you all.”

Commandant Braithwaite was of high praise to the youngsters as well as the local training team which is made up of, Captain Palmer- Staff Officer, Major Alphonso Gayle and Captain Icilma Cornelius, Detachment Commander. In his remarks he also highlighted the fact that he was extremely pleased to see how the Cadet Core is progressing on the Brac. “ No turning back now, “ he emphasized. “ This programme is enhancing the development of young people throughout the islands. A special congratulatory note to the parents, principal and staff of the High School, and the extended community.” he concluded.

Following these, there was the slow and quick time parade by the cadets that earned tremendous applause, as well as, their sample drills.

Aman Amar was the most outstanding recruit for the year, as well as, the Principal’s award, with Nathan Gayle as runner up. Ravinandhan Madesh was awarded for most outstanding drill. Eden McField, the only surviving female student was awarded for grit and determination and Santos Flores for most improved.

The function concluded with the cadets taking their pledge, followed by the singing of the  National Song and culminating with parade March Off.
