The 36th Annual Fosters 800m Sea Swim, hosted by the Cayman Islands Aquatics Sports Association (CIASA) took place on Saturday Oct 10th with 84 swimmers taking part in the 800m sea swim and approximately six younger swimmers taking on the 400m swim.
As in past years, the Foster family was out in full force to support the event with family matriarch Ms. Chi Chi Foster leading the way, accompanied by her son Woody, nephew Shane and his three sons Taylor, Harrison and James.
“We’re so grateful to the community for supporting the 36th Annual Foster’s Sea Swim,” said Julian Foster, Senior Marketing Manager, Foster’s. “It’s wonderful to be able to hold such an event amidst everything going on this year, and we’re proud to support CIASA and the Cayman swimming community.”
Lauren Hew placed first overall in a time of 12:38, Jake Bailey (Stingray Swim Club) second in 12:38 and Harper Barrowman (Seven Mile Swimmers) third in 12:40.
“On behalf of all our athletes I want to thank Foster’s for their continued support of Cayman swimming. Together we have seen the sport of swimming grow, year-over-year, and while 2020 has been challenging in so many ways, being able to come to the beach, to swim, compete and have fun with our family and friends was a great way to spend the afternoon,” said Michael Lockwood, CIASA President. “Thank you too to our volunteers who keep us organised and safe from start to finish.”
