All Clear Issued for Grand Cayman

The National Emergency Operations Centre in consultation with the Cayman Islands National Weather Service has given the All Clear following Hurricane Rafael for Grand Cayman, today, Wednesday, 6 November, at 4:00 a.m. A hurricane warning and shelter in place have also been lifted.

While conditions have improved on Grand Cayman, residents are advised to exercise extreme caution on the roads and near coastlines as rough seas and residual flooding risks may persist. It is anticipated that there will be sporadic showers throughout the morning.

Cayman Brac and Little Cayman remain under a hurricane warning and shelter in place as Hurricane Rafael continues to impact the Islands. Residents are urged to remain indoors as recovery and damage assessment and debris clearance teams, coordinated by Hazard Management Cayman Islands assist affected communities. Once assessments have been completed and debris cleared, a decision on the All Clear for the Sister Islands will be confirmed.

A marine warning remains in effect as rough seas continue to be a concern across all islands. Marine activities are strongly discouraged until conditions fully stabilise.

Schools across all three Islands will remain closed today, 6 November. Members of the public are encouraged to stay tuned to official channels such as gov.ky and Radio Cayman for further updates.
