Jordan Southway has successfully completed his articles of clerkship programme and has joined Maples’ Corporate practice as an Associate.
Mr Southway, the third articled clerk to complete his training with the firm this year, was admitted as an attorney-at-law in the Cayman Islands by The Honourable Justice Williams and his admission was moved by Dispute Resolution & Insolvency Partner Caroline Moran.
Mr Southway began his career with the firm as a summer intern before joining as an articled clerk in 2020. He attended the Queen's University of Belfast where he obtained a Bachelors in Law and subsequently completed his Master of Law in Legal Practice at Cardiff University. Mr Southway also received an American Business Practice Certificate from Dakota Wesleyan University. Mr Southway is a member of the Cayman Islands Legal Practitioners Association, where he was previously the Articled Clerk representative. Outside of his day-to-day role with the firm, Mr Southway is a member of the Cayman Islands National Men's Rugby Union Team.
Following his admission, Mr Southway said: "I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Maples Group for offering me the opportunity undertake my legal training on their prestigious Articles of Clerkship programme. I received exceptional legal training working alongside highly skilled partners and associates where I gained experience working on a broad range of complex legal transactions which has certainly equipped me to take on the role of an associate."
