Batabano organisers host Jab Jab Fete “Blackout”

All roads lead to the Safehaven Marina parking lot on Friday November 11th for one of the most unique fetes to hit the Cayman Islands - the Blackout Jab Jab Fete!

A fundraiser hosted by the nonprofit organisation, Cayman Carnival Batabano, the event promises to be a J’ouvert-like experience, and participants are encouraged to dress the part.

“In the Caribbean, Jab Jab is a French creole patois term meaning ‘Double Devil’, and it is originally a Devil Mas character which is commonly played in Trinidad and Grenada in various forms and colours which involves wearing large horns on the head, plastering the body with paint, oil, tar, or grease, walking with chains or a whip, and dancing to the beat of drums,” explained Batabano Chairperson, Donna Myrie. “It will definitely be a fete not to be missed and we encourage everyone to embrace the theme and come in their best jab jab mas costumes and accessories.”

Entertainment will be by Eternal Vibes & Giselle The Wassie One as MC, and also spinning the latest Soca and Caribbean music will be local DJ’s, DJ Fross and DJ Ryan.

Tickets are only $25 and are now being sold at Le Classique in The Strand and at Funky Tangs. They’re also available for purchase online at EventPro: https://eventpro.ky/buytickets/blackout-the-ultimate-dutty-fundraiser-fete/

The fete starts at 8pm. Dress code is fete wear / J’ouvert Attire. Cash bar.

Sponsored by: Kingston 62, Smirnoff, Pepsi, Island Path, Eventpro.ky, Le Classique, BCreativ.net, Ampersand Creative, and Cayman Wastes.
