“Its very nice to have a family time like this – it makes you have a bond with your children,” said Alicia who had been enjoying the Queen Elizabeth II family fun day, with her son, Canute.
It’s the same thing that many of the parents said, as they took their children to see – not only the beautiful park and all its amazing plants and trees and flowers – but everything else that was part of the Family Fun day – oh and don’t forget the wonderful Children’s Garden, which is already full of attractions just for children.
“What a wonderful day here at the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park, Our annual Family Fun Day, in partnership with the Garden Club of Grand Cayman,” said the park’s General Manager, John Lawrus. “It has turned out to be an incredible success. Lots of local music, local food, kids are happy, parents are happy – another great day and another great reason to come to the Botanic Park at any time. We’ve got children’s crafts, flower- arranging, balloon twisting, a magic show, face painting, a discovery table and lots of good fun in the Children’s Garden.”
Blaise, and her two children Petrina and Jovanna had already had a wonderful time: “The kids had loads of fun because there was lots of games, and face-painting and everything,” Blaise said. One family group of three, Merrell, Zoya and Tina had just got there – they were eating some food at one of the little tables in the cool, leafy shade of the little garden just outside the entrance and gift shop building. “We come here often – I was here on Thursday and I walked through the whole park and really enjoyed it,” said Merrell, “And this is a nice time of year because of the cool breeze – even though the sun is out – and you can see all the different varieties of all the trees – there’s so much to look at Zoya, 10, said: “I love it here. I have come many times before. I like how it feels super cosy, and I love the Children’s Garden. Jennie, David and Sky Mungall were there too: “We love the whole park, the iguanas the plants and flowers. This is our second time but we will come here more often in future.
In the Children’s Garden, volunteers helping children make beautiful bouquets of flowers to give to their mothers. Some of the kids were having their faces painted in wonderful, imaginative patterns and colours.
Osbourne Bodden was there with his wife and granddaughter: “I haven’t been here in a long time, and I’m quite impressed with what they’ve done at the Botanic Park – and the turnout is amazing – its always good to see family events like this and we need more of them – dare I say – here in Cayman. The Botanic Park has come a long way – and I’m very pleased with what I see here – all the happy faces and all the kids and adults having a wonderful time – its an awesome day. “
