The Cayman Food Bank is a nonprofit organization with a clear mission that aims to “mitigate island-wide hunger, by providing access to healthy food.” While we cater to N.A.U. families, domestic abuse survivors and seniors, our key area of focus is to eliminate childhood hunger.
In light of this global pandemic, the Cayman Food Bank formed a Covid-19 Response Team to combat the widespread hunger that is currently plaguing our society. In order to make this fight effective, the Covid-19 Response Team has been partnering with various community partners.
Our latest individual community partner is Burger King which recently gave a monetary donation to The Cayman Food Bank. Handing over the cheque to Phillip Hyre of the food bank, Mr. Gary Rutty of Burger King said “we have always recognised the importance of our family and businesses helping our community, and today it is more important and urgent than ever before. The COVID-19 pandemic has put incredible pressure on the island, and the Good Samaritan Food Bank provides an invaluable service that supports our community during this time. We encourage anyone who can support them, to please do so."
The donation provided by Burger King and Mr. Rutty will put the Cayman Food Bank one step closer to eradicating child hunger. It will also be used to assist vulnerable seniors during the covid-19 pandemic.
