Charles Kirkconnell International Airport new and improved Security Checkpoint area

The Cayman Islands Airports Authority (CIAA), which operates the Owen Roberts International Airport (ORIA) on Grand Cayman and the Charles Kirkconnell International Airport (CKIA) on Cayman Brac, is pleased to announce that the new Security Checkpoint at Charles Kirkconnell International Airport is officially complete and fully operational. This upgraded facility is designed to enhance the travel experience by streamlining passenger flow through the Central Security Search area.

These upgrades will address the challenges occasionally experienced at CKIA, including congestion at the security screening point. The installation of advanced dual-view screening equipment has already significantly reduced the number of bag searches, ensuring a quicker and more efficient screening process.

Looking ahead, additional equipment will be delivered in early 2025, which will further enhance the CIAA’s capabilities, further minimising the number of bag searches and making transit through the airport easier than ever.

“At the CIAA, our top priority is ensuring a safe, efficient, and enjoyable experience for all travelers. The completion of the new Security Checkpoint at Charles Kirkconnell International Airport represents a significant step forward in achieving this goal,” said CKIA Airport Manager Joshua Burke. “With state-of-the-art technology and streamlined processes, we are proud to offer passengers a more effortless journey through the airport.”

These enhancements align with international security standards and regulations, reinforcing the CIAA’s commitment to delivering a safe, seamless, and efficient journey for all travelers while offering world-class airport services.

The CIAA extends its gratitude to passengers for their patience and cooperation during the construction period and looks forward to better serving its passengers and enhancing the passenger experience at the new CKIA Security Checkpoint.
