CAYMAN HAS 2 NEW QUEENS

Two new queens are on the horizon for 2024. Miss Global International Cayman Islands 2024 is Caitlin Tyson and Miss Global International Philippines 2024 is Britney Quiz! Having been recently crowned in an intimate affair under the stars, they have now taken their place on the Cayman Islands pageant circuit; headed by Catherine Tyson-Sewell, the National Director and Franchise holder both MGI Cayman Islands and MGI Philippines!

These Queens are no stranger to pageantry; Caitlin Tyson, Miss Universe Cayman Islands 2018 has now been crowned by the first Miss Global International Cayman Islands, Mili Almaguer, who was appointed last year and competed in the International competition in Montego Bay Jamaica, bringing home the People’s Choice Award and securing a Top 10 placement for the Cayman Islands. Britney Quiz, Miss Mutya Ng Kasarilan 2023 has the unique quality of being both Filipino and Caymanian and is the first-ever Miss Global International Philippines, living in the Cayman Islands.

When asked how it feels this time around Caitlin responded “I love pageantry, it’s our Olympics, and I love the opportunities for women to be strong and support one another. For me, it’s really all about the sisterhood”. For Britney it’s the first time having an international crown and she is excited to be sharing the experience with someone as accomplished in the pageant world as Caitlin and looks forward to the growth and experience that will come.

Last year, straight off the heels of a successful and well received year as the Chairperson of the Miss Universe Cayman Islands Organization, Tyson-Sewell took an eager delegate to compete overseas. Miss Mili Almaguer, having not captured a win at home, ironically, Mili was able to place in the Top 10 overall internationally and earn the Miss People’s Choice Award. This feat was a phenomenal win not only for the young woman but also for the Cayman Islands who had not competed in the pageant that had been around for 19 years and pegged as the Miss Universe of the Caribbean.

For Tyson Sewell, being a part of pageantry transcends its glitzy surface and provides the opportunity to foster a profound sense of sisterhood, empowerment, and inclusivity within our community. It offers a unique platform for women from diverse backgrounds to come together, share their stories, and support one another in their personal and professional growth. Through the legacy of sisterhood, contestants and titleholders create enduring bonds that extend beyond the competition stage and embodies a network of mentorship. This empowerment is not only about self-confidence but also about equipping young women with leadership skills and a strong sense of social responsibility.

The decision to have the franchise for Miss Global International Philippines represented a unique opportunity because the Cayman Islands is home to over 135 different nationalities, each contributing to the islands’ dynamic cultural fabric with the Philippines being a very prominent community and one in which we share a very positive and progressive relationship. The Cayman Islands is not just a beacon of natural beauty and financial prowess, but also a vibrant mosaic of cultures and nationalities and giving opportunities such as this. For the Philippines community to have the opportunity to shine on the International stage is life changing.

Beauty pageants celebrates not just physical appearance but the strength, intelligence, and compassion of women, making a lasting impact on participants and the wider community alike and Tyson-Sewell is excited to be a part of an engine that continues to inspire and shape leaders of tomorrow.

This year, to a destination still in the making, the Miss Global International pageant will have not one but two delegates, hailing from the Cayman Islands, representing our cultural diversity while competing with over 25 other countries all vying for the crown and the opportunity to showcase our culture throughout the regional Caribbean on a worldwide stage.

Tyson-Sewell is confident that our delegates will make a great showing and asks for the continued support and well wishes from our community. There are great things in store for the Cayman Islands and the Miss Global International organization is taking a front row seat. The latest queens have joined the sisterhood and they are making quite the splash!
