Cayman International School Plants Trees for the Jubilee

Students from CIS Early Childhood, Grade 2, and Middle and High School Protect Our Future planted 11 trees on our CIS campus as part of The Queen’s Green Canopy tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.

One student said on the way back from the tree planting, “I wonder how big our tree is going to be when we are in High School?”

The trees were donated thanks to Dart. Of the trees five were Mahogany which has great cultural significance to the Cayman Islands. Through the Queen’s Jubilee tree planting initiative, students supported local biodiversity, enhanced community, and worked together to combat climate change.

Three United Nations Sustainable Development Goals were also met with the tree planting - SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 13 Climate Action, and SDG 15 Life on Land.
