The Cayman Islands Public Library Service (CIPLS) announces the resumption of the ever-popular Cayman Islands Book Fair after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19. The event is scheduled to take place at the George Town Library on Saturday, 24 September, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

“The Library is extremely pleased to welcome the public back to the Cayman Islands Book Fair for yet another exciting and fun-filled event in the spirit of Literacy Month and in celebration of local authors who we intend to showcase on a higher level this year,” commented Acting Director of Libraries Kevin Goring.

The CIPLS advises visitors to enter the venue using the ‘original’ main entrance to the old Library on Edward Street, as the side entrances will be fenced off and used as exits.

Mr. Goring continued, “The Library provides access to information and advocates for literacy, lifelong learning and the promotion of local authors, writers and storytellers. Hence, it is apropos for the library to be at the helm of an event that achieves all of those objectives.”

In addition, to meet and greet opportunities with the authors, book signings and book readings, the Book Fair will feature Children’s Story Time by Literacy is For Everyone (LIFE), Musical Story Time by Miss Izzy, poetry by Leonard Dilbert, a magic show by The Mighty Ricardo, various board games and activities including Cayman Chess Federation, Dungeons & Dragons, face painting, balloon twisting, refreshments, prize raffles, and a musical performance by the Cayman Arts Festival.
