Cayman Islands Girls Under-17 National Team set for 2025 Concacaf U-17 Women’s Qualifiers

Cayman Islands — The Cayman Islands Football Association (CIFA) proudly announces the Cayman Islands Girls Under-17 National Team’s participation in the upcoming 2025 Concacaf U-17 Women’s Qualifiers. This tournament serves as a gateway to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and will kick off on January 27, in Puerto Rico.

The Cayman Islands are placed in Group A alongside hosts Puerto Rico, Bermuda, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The team departed the Cayman Islands this morning.

“We are thrilled to see our young players compete on such a significant stage,” CIFA Women’s Technical Director Martha Godet said. “This tournament is not just about competition; it’s a platform for our players to showcase their talent, dedication and the spirit of Cayman football.

We are confident that they will represent the Cayman Islands with honor and strive for excellence.”

Under the guidance of Coach Alexander Gonzalez, the team includes:

Goalkeepers: Naomi Wilson, Imogen Smailes;

Defenders: Tessa Clark, Estella Ridley, Shardaye Powell, Kezia Parchmont;

Midfielders: Siena Kelly, Marley Rando, Cayden Coles, Harper Nelson, Malia Hydes;

Forwards: Casey Coles, Olivia Ridley, Lena Price, Cosabella Windsor, Jada Dixon Lam, Reese Bateson, Clara De Quintal, Lea Dos Santos Smith, Renee Wambugu.

The team’s schedule in Puerto Rico is as follows:

• January 27 vs. Bermuda

• January 29 vs. Puerto Rico

• January 31 vs. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

Several members of the team over the past year have traveled together for international tournaments and friendlies, including to Puerto Rico and Portugal last year.

“We all know how each other plays,” forward Jada Dixon said of the benefits of those preparation trips. “Understanding each other’s play and how we communicate with each other on the pitch and off the pitch.”

The tournament will see 22 teams vying for a chance to advance to the final round, with the top six group winners and the two best second-place finishers joining the four highest-ranked teams in the subsequent round. This event marks the first edition of the qualifiers to be conducted under a new two-round format.

“It feels like an honor because I’m representing my country,” Dixon said.
