Cayman Islands Red Cross is launching A Mobile Health and Wellness Unit for Children and Adolescents
The Cayman Islands Red Cross has teamed up with various partners including the HSA and the Wellness Centre to offer free physical and mental health checks to children and adolescents in each district with the aim of connecting the youth to the services they need. Any school age child from ages 4-17 who resides in the Cayman Islands can access the service.
Beginning on July 28th, in West Bay, the CIRC Mobile Health and Wellness Unit will embark on a 5 week journey across Grand Cayman, parking in different neighborhoods. Parents who are interested in booking a free appointment for their children can email health@redcross.org.ky or what's app us 547-0918. The schedule for each district will be published on the CIRC social media pages.
The Health and Wellness check involves a health screening, where a doctor or nurse will provide a basic health screening to check on the child’s\adolescent’s physical health, as well as a mental health check, where a mental health professional will provide a basic mental health screening. In light of the COVID-19 crisis and lockdown measures, we feel strongly that this is a necessary component.
“The aim of this project is to connect people to services”, says CIRC Deputy Director, Carolina Ferreira. “We want to make those services as accessible as possible, and see if there are any additional services they may benefit from and make sure they have access to this support”.
