Cayman Islands Red Cross Provides Shelter and Assistance to Fire Victims in George Town

The Cayman Islands Red Cross has opened its shelter yesterday evening at 5 PM to provide immediate assistance to those affected by a significant fire in a George Town neighborhood last night. The fire, which originated from a generator at a tenement yard on Fern Circle and resulted in the displacement of 23 individuals after the property, was condemned by the Planning Department.

Currently, 8 people are staying at the Red Cross shelter. Last night, Red Cross volunteers worked tirelessly to transport the affected individuals to collect personal belongings before bringing them to the shelter.

The efforts were coordinated by 5 dedicated Red Cross shelter managers, who also ensured that everyone received a hot meal for dinner.

The Cayman Islands Red Cross is actively collaborating with Hazard Management Cayman Islands (HMCI) and the Jamaican Consulate to coordinate any further assistance required for the affected individuals.

The Red Cross remains committed to providing ongoing support to those impacted by this unfortunate event and will continue to work closely with all relevant agencies to address their needs.
