Cayman Islands to Host First International Pageant

The Miss Global International Cayman Islands organisation will be the proud host of the first ever international pageant in the Cayman Islands. The 20th celebration of the Miss Global International Pageant will be hosted in the Cayman Islands this October.

Catherine Tyson-Sewell obtained the Cayman Islands franchise last year following her exit as the Chairperson of MUCI after travelling to Montego Bay with Cayman’s delegate Mili Almaguer.  Almaguer subsequently became the 1st Miss Global International Cayman Islands after capturing a Top 10 spot and People’s Choice on the International stage.  Said to be a first class experience, Tyson-Sewell feels that synergy is why she had been placed on the pageant circuit to begin with.  “It’s about empowerment and growth of all of the contestants for me”.  One gets the crown but everybody wins, is the motto of Miss Global International Cayman Islands where everybody is crowned and confident.

While in Montego Bay last year, Tyson-Sewell also saw that there were no representatives from the Philippines, and knowing how much that community in Cayman loves pageantry she took the opportunity to acquire the Miss Global International Philippines and offer this to the large Filipino community who were living in the Cayman Islands but unable to compete internationally due to them not being in their own country. Tyson-Sewell thinks working together with our foreign counterparts is the way forward for Cayman seeing how diverse the Cayman Islands is.  “We are a community of over 130 nationalities and Caymanians need to be visible because this is our home: staying in your own corner just does not make sense.” It is community that has placed me in this realm and I am so thrilled to be bringing the first international pageant to Cayman. This is not a one off, The Miss Global International pageant will grace the shores of the Cayman Islands for 3 years under the guidance of Tyson-Sewell.

The 2024 International Pageant is set to invigorate the local economy, fostering tourism during slow season, and create a positive impact on the community. The event is expected to attract visitors from around the globe, travelling with their delegate who will compete for the coveted title of Miss Global International 2024, including the Cayman Islands and Philippines. The competition comprises of interview, swimwear, national costume, evening wear with a talent segment that will be hosted on a separate evening.
