The Cayman Motoring Federation (CMF) proudly announces the impressive performance of its members in the recently concluded Jamaica Simulation Racing Association (JSRA) Formula 4 Championship Series on iRacing. This series, which began in June 2024, served as a preparatory event for the FIA Motorsports Games scheduled for October 2024. Racers from across the Caribbean, the Americas, Europe and the United Kingdom participated in this highly competitive 6-round series.
Ian Lance Charlery, a standout racer from the CMF, was a dominant force throughout the initial rounds of the championship. Leading the poles through race 4, Ian showcased remarkable skill and determination. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, he was unable to participate in races 5 and 6. Despite this setback, Ian’s exceptional performance secured him a 5th place overall finish out of a field of 28 competitors. His achievement underscores his talent and resilience in the face of adversity.
Reflecting on his experience, Ian stated, “To be leading the championship through the 4th round against some of the most competitive drivers in the region was an awesome feeling. The competition is fierce! Even small mistakes are costly. The JSRA F4 championship is a great experience not just for fast racers but also for those trying to get their feet wet.”
Other CMF member racers were Alessandro Di Felice (11th), and Julian Narcisse (15th). The JSRA F4 series is an excellent simulator racing experience for all esports racers.
The Cayman teams also delivered commendable performances in the team standings, with Charlery’s team finishing in an impressive 2nd place and the other team securing the 11th position out of 20 teams. These results highlight the depth of talent and competitive spirit within the Cayman Motoring Federation.
The JSRA Formula 4 Championship Series has set a high standard for virtual racing events, providing racers with a platform to hone their skills and compete against some of the best talents in the region. The CMF is excited about the future of sim racing and looks forward to more opportunities for its members to shine on the international stage. Ian Charlery will be representing the Cayman Islands in esports F4, and Karyll Iton will be representing the Cayman Islands in esports GT at the FIA Motorsport Games.
