With reports of bad weather expected this past weekend, coordinators of the CUC Primary Football League (PFL) and Girls’ Primary Football league (GPFL) were thankful for the cooler weather on Saturday, September 21 as the 2024 CUC PFL/GPFL seasons got underway across the Island.
Defending Under 11 boys league champions Cayman Prep A began their title defence with a hard-fought 4-0 (respect rule) over Cayman Brac. The young Brac team defended valiantly against the 2023 champions, but goals from Ben Farjallah (4th minute), two from Jake Loxston (23rd and 45th minutes) and an unfortunate own goal paved the way for the Prep win.
In other Group B Under 11 games, Footsteps School outgunned Red Bay Primary 4-0 (respect rule) and Prospect Primary defeated NorthEast Schools 2-0.
In the Under 9 division in Group B, Footsteps School got past Red Bay Primary 3-0 and Cayman Prep 9A defeated Island Primary 9B 5-1.
In Group A Under 9 games, Sir John A. Cumber Primary outscored Cayman Prep 9B 5-1, Cayman International School got past Island Primary 9A 4-1 and Marie Martin Primary defeated Joanna Clarke Primary 3-0.
