CAYMAN’S FINANCIAL SERVICES COMMUNITY STEPS UP TO FIGHT CHILD ABUSE, ENABLING HFC TO FUND CRITICAL COVID-19 RESPONSE GRANTS

Help For Children (HFC), known as Hedge Funds Care in Cayman, launched a Top Donor Campaign in spring 2020 across the organization, in an effort to make up for all of the fundraising events cancelled as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The popular HFC Cayman Gala, which was scheduled to take place in late November, was among the many benefits cancelled for the foundation.

“Like the rest of the world, when the pandemic struck, HFC had no choice but to pivot from hosting in-person benefits to a different fundraising strategy that would allow us to continue providing grants to organizations that protect at-risk children who are particularly vulnerable because they are suddenly stuck at home,” said Cindy Hislop, HFC Cayman Affiliate Board Chair, member of HFC’s Global Board of Directors and partner, Deloitte. “We are grateful to our local industry leaders who are joining my company to be part of the solution, especially right now when children, who are hidden from sight, need it the most.”

Despite the challenges this year, the finance community stepped up to support HFC and the fight against child abuse locally. The donations provided by the charity’s top donors, together with our generous individual donors, enabled HFC to make two rounds of grants to local organizations across nine of its ten locations. The first round, granted in July 2020, in Cayman included the Cayman Islands Red Cross and NCVO Children Services, and there will be a second round of 2020 grants made in Cayman, along with eight other HFC locations, in January 2021. HFC Cayman gives its heartfelt thanks to its Top Donors and the many individuals who have opened their hearts and their wallets to help the children of Cayman.
