Conyers hosts Truman Bodden Law School students for IBA Webinar in celebration of 100 years of women in law

In November, women across Conyers’ global network of offices celebrated 100 years of women in law whilst taking the opportunity to learn about business development via an International Bar Association Webinar titled “Women Making It Rain.” Watch sessions were organised by lawyers in the Bermuda; Hong Kong; and London offices. The Cayman Islands office hosted students from the Truman Bodden Law School for a viewing of the webinar followed by an inspiring roundtable discussion led by Reshma Sharma, Cayman Islands’ Solicitor General.

The webinar featured a panel of female lawyers, “rainmakers”, from around the world sharing their road to success and the techniques that they found most effective for cultivating their practices.

Moderated by Deborah Farone, a strategic marketing consultant and author of Best Practices in Law Firm Business Development and Marketing, the panel featured:

• Christina Blacklaws, solicitor and consultant, immediate Past President of the Law Society of England and Wales

• Lynell Tuffery Huria, Principal, AJ Park, New Zealand

• Deanna Kirkpatrick, Partner, Davis Polk, USA

• Annalisa Reale, Partner, Chiomenti, Italy

• Natalie Yeung, Partner, Slaughter and May Hong Kong.

At the roundtable discussion immediately following the webinar, Ms. Sharma shared her professional journey with the students along with tips for success which included the importance of preparation, demonstrating curiosity and finding your niche.

“At Conyers we are proud to support the next generation of lawyers, this event was a celebration of the great women who over the past 100 years have pioneered and led the way in terms of women leadership roles in law and in deed in many other disciplines.” said Roisin Liddy-Murphy Attorney, in Conyers Litigation department and former Barrister and Law Lecturer at the Truman Bodden Law School. “Many thanks to Reshma Sharma for facilitating a motivational and inspirational round table discussion.”

Mitchell Davies, Director of Legal Studies at the Truman Bodden Law School, remarked, “The event was very popular with the students. We’d like to thanks Conyers for their support of the law school and we look forward to collaborating with them on events in the future.”
