The University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI) has today announced a partnership with Digicel Cayman Ltd to establish a scholarship programme worth $10,000 CI for Caymanian students, with applications opening soon. The $10,000 scholarship will support one or multiple students to study either an associate or bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
This initiative aims to make higher education more accessible to students across the Cayman Islands, reinforcing the commitment of both organizations to fostering local talent and innovation.
The Digicel-UCCI Scholarship will be open to Caymanian students who demonstrate academic promise, leadership potential, and a commitment to community service. The scholarship is designed to cover tuition and related educational expenses for students pursuing studies at UCCI.
Applications for the scholarship programme will officially open on January 15, 2025, with a deadline for submission on March 31, 2025. Eligible students must meet UCCI’s admission requirements, provide academic transcripts, and submit a personal statement outlining their aspirations and how this scholarship will impact their education and future goals.
“We are proud to partner with Digicel on this initiative, which aligns with our mission of making education accessible and empowering the next generation of leaders,” commented Dr Robert W Robertson, President and CEO of UCCI. “This scholarship will be a game-changer for students who might otherwise face financial barriers to higher education.”
Digicel Cayman CEO, Mayra Castillo, highlighted the company’s ongoing dedication to the community: “Investing in education is an investment in the future of our islands. We are excited to support young Caymanians in achieving their goals and look forward to seeing the incredible impact they will make.”
