Doctors Hospital Q1 2025 Wrap-Up: A Season of Growth, Innovation, and Community Impact
As the first quarter of 2025 comes to a close, Doctors Hospital reflects on a dynamic and impactful start to the year. From thought leadership and groundbreaking medical initiatives to community engagement and prestigious recognitions, our commitment to advancing healthcare in the Cayman Islands has never been stronger.
Shaping the Future: Cayman 2035 & Brain Health Innovations
At the highly anticipated Economic Forum, hosted under the theme Cayman 2035, Dr. Ryan Punambolam, Neurologist at Doctors Hospital specialising in stroke care, participated in insightful discussions on the future of the Cayman Islands. Adding to the thought-provoking discourse, Dr. Punambolam delivered an engaging session on Optimising Brain Health for Cayman’s Future, shedding light on Brain Capital. “A healthy brain is the foundation of economic output,” he stated, presenting innovative strategies to enhance cognitive well-being in our community. Dr. Punambolam concluded his presentation by emphasising, “The preservation of brain health is the critical challenge of the 21st century. I am asking for us (Grand Cayman) to take the lead to begin to account and build (brain capital) so we may forge a future without limits.”
Honouring Excellence in Healthcare
Doctors Hospital’s commitment to medical excellence was recognised when David Pellow, our Chief Pharmacist, received the Modern Visionary in Healthcare award at the 2025 Heroes Day Awards. This prestigious accolade acknowledges his pioneering contributions to pharmacy excellence in Cayman and the wider region.
Championing Community & Sports
We are proud to support Cayman’s vibrant sports culture through our sponsorship of the Cayman Islands Rugby Men’s XV Tri-Series, reinforcing our dedication to community health and well-being beyond the clinical setting.
Raising Awareness: Cancer Initiatives & Screening Programmes
This quarter, we amplified the conversation around cancer awareness through our World Cancer Day video campaign, uniting expert voices to emphasise the importance of early detection and prevention.
Our efforts extend beyond awareness. Integra Healthcare’s Cervical Cancer Screening Programme in March has been met with great success, leading to an extension into April 2025. Additionally, Doctors Hospital will be launching a Breast Cancer Screening Initiative from March 24 to April 14, 2025, offering mammograms at a special rate of CI$150, ensuring broader access to essential preventive care.
Leadership in Human Resources
Doctors Hospital and Integra Healthcare’s Director of Human Resources, Mario Ebanks, was honoured to serve as the keynote speaker at the RF HR Leadership Forum: From Policy to People – HR Strategies in a Changing World. His talk, “Building a Work-Ready Workforce: Aligning Policy and Partnerships for Success,” provided insightful strategies for fostering adaptive and people-centric workplace environments.
Recognised as a Chamber of Commerce Advocate Champion
Doctors Hospital was named an Advocate Champion by the Chamber of Commerce, recognising our contributions to healthcare and the community in 2024. This accolade underscores our ongoing commitment to healthcare excellence and service.
Expanding Dermatology Services at Integra Healthcare
We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Nevianna Bordet to our dermatology team at Integra Healthcare, further solidifying our position as one of the largest dermatology departments in the Cayman Islands. Her expertise enhances our ability to provide comprehensive and specialised skin care services to our patients. Dr. Bordet joins Integra’s esteemed dermatologists, Dr. Alison Duncan and Dr. Davide Altamura.
Advancing Women’s Health
We were also proud to participate in the HSA Women’s Health Conference 2025, where Dr. Lisa-Marie Hinzmann, OBGYN and Fertility Specialist at Doctors Hospital and Cayman Fertility Centre, and Dr. Seshadri Pramodh, Endocrinologist at Integra Healthcare, explored the intricate connection between hormonal, medical, and reproductive factors that impact sexual health. Their discussions highlighted the importance of integrated care in supporting women’s health and well-being.
Looking Ahead
With a strong start to the year, we are eager to continue our mission of delivering exceptional healthcare, driving meaningful conversations, and expanding access to essential services in the Cayman Islands. As we celebrate our 25th anniversary this year, we remain committed to innovation, patient-centred care, and making a lasting impact in our community.
