Just after 7:20PM yesterday, 8 November, officers responded to a report of a serious collision on Sea View Road in East End, involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The pedestrian was struck by the vehicle, a Suzuki Swift, receiving serious injuries.
EMS attended the location and the pedestrian was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital by ambulance.
The driver of the Suzuki attended the Bodden Town Police Station and was breath tested with a result over the legal limit. He was arrested and remains in custody as investigations continue.
The pedestrian was subsequently pronounced deceased earlier this morning.
A section of Sea View Road was temporarily closed as the scene was processed, but has now been reopened.
The matter is currently under investigation by the Traffic & Roads Policing Management Unit. Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or have any other information, to contact 649-6254.
