Shortly after 7:20PM on Saturday, 7 November, officers responded to a report of a collision on Powell Smith Drive, West Bay, involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian. Emergency services attended the scene and the pedestrian was subsequently pronounced dead. The rider of the motorcycle sustained injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Cayman Islands Hospital for treatment.
The matter is under investigation and traffic officers remain on scene. Powell Smith Drive will remain closed to traffic until further notice as investigations continue.
The RCIPS wishes to again remind the public to restrict travel on the roadways as much as possible, due to the effects of Tropical Storm Eta.
