The Cayman Islands Customs and Border Control Service (CBC) confirms a fire was reported at the Bodden Town Civic Center at approximately 8:30 PM this evening, Saturday, 14 December 2024.
The Cayman Islands Fire Service (CIFS) is on the scene and no injuries have been reported.
Alternative arrangements are being made for the sixteen (16) migrants currently housed at the Civic
Center. This matter is currently under investigation.
Update: One man Arrested in Relation to November Construction Site Robbery
Just before 7:15AM on Friday 13 December, police arrested a 30-year-old-man of West Bay on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery and other related offenses, in relation to a high value robbery incident that took place on Eastern Avenue on 18th November, 2024.
The man is currently in custody pending further investigations.
Detectives continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward with any information they may have in relation to this matter. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the MIR at 244-2930.

Police Respond to Stabbing Incident at Licensed Premises on West Bay Road
On Thursday,12 December, shortly after 9:00PM police responded to a report of a wounding incident at a liquor licensed premises, in the vicinity of Public Beach, on West Bay Road.
On attending the scene, neither the victim or reporting party were present. A police cordon was put in place while officers carried out their investigations. The scene was cleared just before midnight.
Police subsequently received information that the man, who had received multiple stab wounds, had been transported to George Town Hospital via private vehicle. Officers attended the hospital to check on the victim, who was receiving treatment for serious but non-life threatening injuries.
One suspect, a 51-year-old man of West Bay, has been arrested on suspicion of wounding, and other persons of interest are being sought by police. The investigation is ongoing.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Any information can be reported to George Town CID at 949-4222.
