Scotiabank 14, Coldwell Banker 13
The 2020 season of CILLA Girls Softball continued at the Field of Dreams on Wednesday evening as Scotiabank built an early lead, and held off a furious final inning rally by Coldwell Banker, to squeak out a 14-13 walk-off win.
Coldwell Banker scored three runs in the first as Jialy Archbold-McLaughlin, Kenia Rostran and Aydis Rostran all scored following some aggressive base running.
In the bottom of the inning Scotiabank took advantage of five walks and a great hit by Calissa Ylagan to plate five runs. Shay Windsor, Zhanna McDonald, Janey Veilleux, Calissa, and Akeyla Ebanks all scored.
Coldwell Banker couldn’t score in the second inning as Scotiabank’s pitcher, Zhanna, was in total command on the mound. Scotiabank tallied three more runs as Shay, Janey and Calissa crossed home for the second time in the game.
Coldwell Banker got the offense going in the third inning as Jialy, Kenia and Aydis scored their second runs of the game, with Martina Watler’s RBI triple down the left field line being the key hit.
Scotiabank bounced right back with three more runs as Rio Windsor, Aleigha General and Hanna Jackson scored. Coldwell Banker exploded for six runs in the top of the fourth to take a 13-11 lead. Diamond Chambers, Shanell Martinez, Jada Jennings, Jialy, Kenia and Aydis all scored, with Kenia’s inside-the-park grand slam being the big hit of the inning.
Undaunted, Scotiabank fought back with three runs to win the game. After Calissa had scored to make it 13-12, Rio hit a bloop single over second base to score Dena’e Alexander and Akeyla with the winning runs, sending the Scotiabank players, coaches and spectators into celebration mode!

Coldwell Banker outlasted Kirk Freeport 5-2 on Saturday afternoon, in a defensive struggle that was dominated by the pitchers and fielders. The two teams combined for only five hits for the entire game.
Coldwell Banker only managed one infield hit on the day, but took advantage of some excellent base-running to score four runs in the first inning. Jialy Archbold-McLaughlin, Aydis Rostran and Annie Hawkins all walked and scored, while Stephanie Menko was hit by a pitch and later scored. Stephanie added the final run in the third inning as she walked and scored on an infield hit by Annie Hawkins, Coldwell Banker’s solitary hit.
Kirk Freeport batters got four hits for the game, but only tallied two runs, scored by Keirsten McLaughlin and Jahzara Barnes. Shortstop Demae Lee turned in an excellent defensive play and pitcher Ariyana Ebanks struck out five batters and allowed just the one hit in her four plus innings of work. She also made two excellent running catches.
Coldwell Banker catcher Kenia Rostran threw out two runners attempting to steal, which greatly aided the defensive effort.
After the first couple of weeks of competition, all three teams are tied for first place with a 1-1 record!
Games continue on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm and Saturdays at 4:30 pm.
Player of the Game:
Aydis Rostran (Coldwell Banker): Allowed just four hits and two runs, while striking out four in five innings of pitching.
