Coldwell Banker built an early 6-0 lead then held on for a nail-biting 6-5 victory as Digicel rallied with five late runs in Girls Softball action last Tuesday.
Coldwell Banker took advantage of four 1st inning walks and a couple of misplays in the field to take an early 4-0 lead. Mya Williams, Jialy Archbold-McLaughlin, Stephanie Menko and Lili Anne Aleria all crossed the plate. Digicel did turn a good double play in the inning, limiting the damage.
Coldwell Banker added two more runs in the 3rd as Demae Lee reached on an error and Jialy brought her home on a line-drive double to the fence. Jialy scored moments later on a groundout by Stephanie.
In the meantime Jialy was pitching a great game, holding Digicel scoreless through the first three innings. She struck out three batters while only allowing an infield single.
Digicel rallied with three in the 4th as Madi Malice, Tracey Campbell and Clara Ramos touched home, with Clara’s RBI single being the key hit of the inning. Tracey, now in at pitcher, silenced the Coldwell Banker bats in the last two innings, allowing just one hit and no runs.
Digicel continued the rally in the 5th as Lindsay Bodden and Maya Willis scored to make it 6-5, with an RBI single by Madi helping the cause. With the potential tying run on 2nd, Demae induced the final batter to hit a pop fly to 3B, where Jialy secured the catch to end the game.

Coldwell Banker 8, Pizza Hut 2
Coldwell Banker’s Demae Lee and Jialy Archbold-McLaughlin combined to pitch a no-hitter and a six run 3rd inning propelled them to an 8-2 win over Pizza Hut in a battle for first place.
Both teams were held in check over the first two innings as Demae and Pizza Hut’s Sofia Watler were pitching beautifully. The only run scored when Pizza Hut’s Rio Windsor walked to start the game and used her speed to sprint around the bases.
In the decisive 3rd inning Coldwell Banker took advantage of four walks, a dropped third strike and three uncharacteristic fielding misplays by Pizza Hut to score six runs without getting a hit. Mya Williams, Demae, Jialy, Stephanie Menko, McKenna Knapik and Keilah Gordon all crossed the plate to give their team a 6-1 lead.
Mya and Demae had back-to-back singles to start the top of the 4th and they both scored later in the inning with an RBI single by Stephanie being the key hit.
Shay Windsor walked and scored for Pizza Hut in the bottom of the 4th, but that was the end of their offense for the night as Demae and Jialy were in full control at pitcher, combining for eight strikeouts without allowing a hit.
Sofia had eight strikeouts in four innings for Pizza Hut, and Withney Jackson pitched a scoreless fifth inning.
Games continue on Wednesdays and Saturdays for the next few weeks, and the girls begin their mini-tournament on May 28th.
