Girls Softball – Game Report

Wednesday, May 18th
Pizza Hut 15, Coldwell Banker 5

Pizza Hut delivered in under 30 minutes, scoring nine runs in the first two innings en route to a 15-5 victory over first place Coldwell Banker last Wednesday. Sofia Watler smashed a two-run homer and sisters Shay and Coco Windsor each scored three runs to lead a balanced offensive attack.

Pizza Hut scored four runs in the 1st, with Rio Windsor, Sofia, Shay and Coco all crossing the plate. The key hits in the inning were RBI singles by Shay and Coco. The same four girls scored again in the 2nd and teammate Leila Dixon earned her first run of the night. Shay’s double and Sofia’s homer to the fence in left centre were the big hits of the inning, giving Pizza Hut a 9-0 lead.

Sofia was sharp on the pitcher’s mound as well, holding the Coldwell Banker batters to no runs over the first two innings, while striking out three.

Pizza Hut added two more runs in the top of the 3rd as LeiAnni Dixon and Avah Connors both walked and scored. Coldwell Banker bounced back with their first two runs of the night as Keilah Gordon and Natalia Cugliari crossed home as the team took advantage of four walks and an error.

Pizza Hut put it out of reach in the 4th as Shay, Leila and Coco all scored again and Withney Jackson scored her first run of the night after reaching base on a dropped third strike.

Coldwell Banker fought back with three runs in the bottom of the 4th, as Janey Veilleux, Lorlie Bryan and Keilah all walked and scored, but relief pitcher Withney retired the final two batters to finish the game at 15-5.

Pizza Hut was certainly supreme on this night but the teams will face off again on May 25th with the regular season title on the line.

Demae Lee, McKenna Knapik, Jialy, Keilah Gordon and Kadence Miller Ebanks each scored twice for the winners as Coldwell Banker featured a balanced offense. Demae’s 2 RBI single and Jialy’s 2 RBI double were the key hits in a six run second inning, giving Coldwell Banker a 9-2 lead half way through. They added six more in the 3rd, taking advantage of four walks and a 2 RBI double by McKenna.

Digicel scored twice in the 1st as Madison Malice and Angelie Bodden both singled and scored. Their bats were quiet for the next two innings but they rallied for three runs in the bottom of the 4th, led by a single and good base running from Raegan Jefferson and Tracey Campbell’s 2 RBI single.
