Digicel 11 Kirk Freeport 7
On Saturday evening, 2nd seeded Digicel jumped out to an early 9-3 lead, then held off a late rally to outlast Kirk Freeport, 11-7.
Coco Windsor and Tracey Campbell tallied three runs apiece for Digicel, who scored four runs in the 1st and five runs in the 2nd. Tracey also had a key RBI single and she pitched all five innings for the win, striking out four and making some excellent defensive plays on the mound, including the final out of the game. Rio Windsor chipped in with two runs after reaching base three times. Coco and Rio also teamed up for an important play in throwing out a runner at the plate. Renee Bryan contributed with 2 RBIs and Cosette Brendel had an RBI single. The Digicel team used their speed to their advantage, stealing several bases or advancing on passed balls.
Kirk Freeport was missing a couple of players, but they still put up a very spirited effort. Nelly Hayles had a single, a double and 4 RBIs, while Kenia Rostran-Martin had three singles and two runs scored. Kenia also turned an unassisted double play.
