His Excellency The Governor, Mr Martyn Roper announces the launch of the new Police Service Commission (PSC) website, which can be viewed at: https://www.policeservicecommission.ky/
“I am pleased to see the arrival of the PSC website as it offers accessibility and transparency for those who want to understand more about some of the important decisions made within the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS)”, he said.
The PSC is an independent body, chaired by the Governor. The PSC was established in 2021 and held its first meeting in March that year, with four subsequent meetings held since that date the most recent of which was 11 April 2022.
The specific responsibilities of the PSC include senior appointments and promotions within the RCIPS (superintendent rank and higher ranks), and the good governance of the RCIPS.
The new PSC website provides information to the public about the constitutional section and the associated regulations governing the Police Service Commission, its terms of reference, operations, decisions, and meetings’ minutes.
The PSC comprises:
• Governor Roper – Chairman.
• Attorney Mr Richard Coles, a former Attorney General of the Cayman Islands.
• Attorney Mr Richard Barton.
• Attorney Mr Graham Hampson.
• Attorney Mr Lindsey Cacho, also a former senior police officer.
• The UK Overseas Territories Police Adviser - Mr Andrew Munday.
• Chief Officer of the Portfolio of the Civil Service Mrs. Gloria McField-Nixon who provides human resources advice.
• Mrs. Nancy Barnard née Kirkaldy - PSC Secretariat Manager.
