Your kitchen and not the drugstore may hold the secret to your ageing, healthy and vibrant skin. The list of culprit causing dry skin is long from daily bathing habits to a lack of natural oils in your skin as you age. The good news is you do not need a dermatologist to help your skin. Here are some fabulous DIY approaches.
OLIVE OIL CLEANSER - This oil is a wonder. Simply rub the oil onto your skin, drape a warm, damp cloth over your face until it cools.
RICH CREAMY AVOCADO MASK - ½ cup sugar added to 1 tsp. honey. Apply to your face. Leave for 20 minutes and then wash off. Your skin will feel soft and moisturized.
OLIVE OIL AND SUGAR SCRUB - ½ cup sugar added to 2 tbsp. olive oil, and if needed some lavender which gives a natural fragrance and promotes relaxation. Rub in gently then wash off. Use a soothing moisturizer to lock in the benefits of the freshly exfoliated skin.
OATMEAL HONEY MASK - Oatmeal makes a dynamic exfoliator or mask. 2 tblsp. Oats with 1 tblsp. Of honey and a dash of water. Warm the mixture then rub onto skin. Wash off after 20mins.
COCONUT OIL BEFORE BEDTIME - At room temperature coconut oil becomes a solid, so it is great at bedtime or anytime for that matter. For chapped heels and hands apply the oil, then layer with thick socks or non-latex glove.
Natural Oils help recreate the natural skin barriers.
Apart from the oils listed above you can try others, such as avocado, jojoba, and organ oils to your bathing regimen.
